Gothic Revival Churches โข 1830-1940’s
The style was most prominently used in the construction of cathedrals and churches. Pointed arches, rib vaults, buttresses, and vertical emphasis.
Designed to inspire a feeling of spiritual elevation and closeness to the divine.
Richardson Romanesque โข 1870s to the 1900s
characterized by its heavy, solid appearance, round arches, and use of rough-faced stone or brick.
Evokes a sense of strength, permanence, and unique craftsmanship. It’s a style that commanded attention and communicated a sense of importance.
Classical Revival โข 1895-1950
Symmetrical, pediments above windows/doors, prominent columns.
Emphasizes formality, order, democracy, and simplicity.
