Step into the fascinating history of downtown Provo at ground level with your personal guide. Explore the exterior of Historic Provo buildings from the architect’s perspective. Meet at the SW corner of University Avenue & Center Street. This tour offered April through October. $5 per person

GRAND HOUSES

Explore the various styles of some of the grandest residences built in Provo in the late 1800’s through the early 1900’s. Provo’s prominent entrepreneurs reflect the wealth, power, and aesthetic taste of their owners and of America’s Gilded Age. These are the Victorian mansions of the city. All derive from the high style popular at the end of the nineteenth century. Some of the most ornate fenestration to be found in Provo is contained in these buildings. TOUR FORMAT

Walking tours are led by an architect and include architectural principles, local history, and group interaction. Every tour involves viewing the exterior of historic buildings at street level. Tours that include interiors will be specifically noted in the description above. Each tour varies in length of time and walking distance as noted in the tour description. All paths and points along the tour are wheelchair accessible. However, the condition of public sidewalks may prove difficult or hazardous for some. Please come prepared with comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing for weather conditions. Bring any water or snacks that you may need. Public restrooms will be available at beginning and end of tour. Tours are held during daylight hours and are intended for ages 14+.
